The Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) is a unit of the Metropolitan
Education District (MetroED) and offers adult education classes for free or at
a very low-cost. MAEP is one of the oldest and largest adult education
programs in the state.
The classes are convenient, accessible, and have flexible
schedules to meet the family and work needs of adults. The
courses range from basic skills in math, reading and writing,
ESL Citizenship, 50+ Program to Career Technical (Vocational)
certificate programs.
The Metropolitan Education District also offers a variety of classes for
adult students, through the Central County Occupational Center (CCOC). The CCOC evening
classes are Career Technical (vocational) classes primarily for adults; whereas,
CCOC day classes are targeted for high school students.
MAEP is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges (WASC). All teachers have California State Teaching
credentials and all course curriculums meet the California
State guidelines and is reviewed and updated regularly.
