Capitol High School Program

Capitol High is a program specifically designed for students who are deficient in high school academic credits and may be at risk of not graduating. Students receive one-on-one support in small classes. Students spend their full school day at Capitol High School; half of the day in academic classes and half of the day in a career technical field.

What is Capitol High School and how does the program work?

The Capitol High School Program is located on the campus of Central County Occupational Center, 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose, CA 95136. The program is targeted to students who are deficient in high school credits and may be at risk of not graduating.

Students spend half of their school day in a technical training program which will prepare them for immediate employment. There are 31 career fields for students to choose from (see listing below) which give students an opportunity to explore a career path to benefit them now and in the future.

Students during the second half of their school day, work on contracts to fulfill their academic credits. Students are able to work at their own pace in smaller classes. Teachers have time to spend with individual students in improving reading, writing and math skills.

Students at Capitol High who are willing to work hard are able to catch up on credits in time to graduate with the class at the school they are now attending.

Requirements for Enrollment

Students must be age 16 – 18, and must have completed a minimum of 50 high school credits and must be able to attend school regularly.

Students must be attending one of the following school districts: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District.
