San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed to serve as Keynote speaker at Central County Occupational Center's (CCOC) 38th Annual Awards Ceremony
More than 150 Central County Occupational Center students will be honored at CCOC's 38th Annual Awards Ceremony on June 1 at 6 p.m. San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed will serve as the keynote speaker.
"There have been so many success stories this year at CCOC; it would be hard to find a teacher that does not have a recent success story about one of our students," CCOC Director/Principal, John Fox, said. "We are very proud of all of our students that attend and complete programs at CCOC, and especially the students that have dedicated themselves to their career choice by working hard to distinguish themselves."
Each student will receive certificates or financial awards for outstanding achievements made within their CCOC classes during the 2006-07 school year. Awards are given in three categories: achievement, honors, and service. The awards, which start at $75, were donated by various businesses, organizations, individuals, CCOC instructors, and former students. Several students will also be recognized for earning $4,000 scholarships from the Grove Foundation.
Awards Ceremony invitations and programs were designed by CCOC Graphic Design student, Nadiya Filimonova. CCOC's Student Council is sponsoring an ice cream social during the school day on June 1 to honor the award ceremony students in the presence of their peers.
CCOC--a unit of MetroED--provides career-technical education for high school students in six districts: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose, Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District.
