CCOC Hosts Its First Law Enforcement Graduation; SJ City Council Member Nancy Pyle to serve as Keynote Speaker

Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) will host its first Law Enforcement graduation on May 31 at 6 pm at 760 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose in the auditorium. San Jose City Council Member, Nancy Pyle, will serve as the keynote speaker.

"CCOC's Law Enforcement students worked very hard and deserve this one night of recognition," CCOC's Law Enforcement Instructor, Rico Sciaky, said. "My hope is that these students realized the need for police officers to serve the public in their communities."

A reception in the cafeteria will immediately follow the event. Starbucks is donating coffee for the reception and CCOC's Baking and Catering class will make cookies and cake for the event.

CCOC's Law Enforcement class is open to high school juniors and seniors from six high school districts: Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District, Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, San Jose Unified, Milpitas Unified, and the Santa Clara Unified District. Students learn the nuts and bolts of law enforcement through similar methods used at police academies using a variety of hands-on methods.

CCOC-a unit of MetroED, has one of the most advanced Law Enforcement Regional Occupational Programs in the state. "CCOC is also one of the few high school programs to have a Firearms Training System similar to what is used at law enforcement agencies throughout the state," Sciaky said.

MetroED is the largest career-oriented educational organization in Santa Clara County, comprised of high school and adult career technical, academic and community programs.
